Two becomes one - Our two German onshore units are merging

Good news from Deutsche Windtechnik: In 2024, our two German onshore service units will merge to form Deutsche Windtechnik GmbH & Co. KG. This is a gigantic project, as it involves reviewing and improving all related business activities. In the long term, we will be re-evaluating and standardising our processes in almost all areas of activity, combining our technical competencies and much more.

[Translate to Niederländisch:]

"For several months now, many of our employees have been working hard to prepare the merger and get it under way. They have generated an incredible number of new ideas and approaches. Our goal is to become even faster, more efficient and closer to the wind turbines and wind farms we manage, to our clients, to technical solutions and much more. For this reason, the merger will also be accompanied by numerous investments in training, systems and other innovations. As a result, the merger will enable us to strengthen our long-term competitive position," said Matthias Brandt, Director of Deutsche Windtechnik AG, regarding the motives for this large-scale merger.

Eliminating duplicate structures and uniting the best

"Our units have already worked together closely in many areas over the past few years. The merger is the next logical step now to take our strengths to a new level," said Hauke Behrends, who is currently still Managing Director of Deutsche Windtechnik Service. Together with Severin Mielimonka, who is currently still Managing Director of Deutsche Windtechnik X-Service, he will jointly share the responsibility of managing the new unit. "By merging the service locations, for example, we are making our service even more compact and decentralised. This has the clear advantage that travel times will often be shorter. We will also be able to organise our on-call services more flexibly. In addition, we are also combining our control centres, scheduling departments, technical support, occupational safety, engineering, materials management, purchasing, personnel and sustainability, and we are focusing our resources, and preparing ourselves for the future. This also includes our IT infrastructure, documentation, order processing and invoicing. Our customers will also benefit from this. For example, in the future we will manage all of the wind turbines in their portfolios in a centralised manner."

What about the employees?

"The merger process was driven forward by our employees with great commitment from the beginning. We are very proud of that," Severin Mielimonka said. For example, the goals and intermediate process steps of the merger were planned together, in some cases going beyond 2025. This also included the occasionally not-so-easy task of utilising our existing specialist employees even more efficiently in the new unit. Severin Mielimonka said: "In the last few years, we could have taken care of a few more service requests if we had had more specialist personnel available. The merger is also an effective strategy to counter the current shortage of specialised workers." This means there will be no loss of jobs. Deutsche Windtechnik will continue to pursue its goal of increasing its attractiveness as an employer.

What does this mean for our business partnerships?

Since the merger can only take place after the 2023 financial statements have been adopted, we plan to carry out the merger at the end of March 2024. At the beginning of April, Deutsche Windtechnik GmbH & Co. KG will start doing business. We will inform our clients, partner companies and suppliers individually in separate letters about the merger and how it will affect them (for example new billing address, account details, etc.).
