In the last days of August, four generators and one gearbox have been replaced in the Dutch offshore wind farm Prinses AmaliaWindpark (PAWP), operated by Eneco. The crane activities for replacing the components started on Monday, the last crane activities were completed on Thursday, meaning that this phase of the campaign took only four days in total.
Jerry Romberg, Operations Manager of Deutsche Windtechnik B.V., emphasizes the excellent cooperation between all parties involved: “The successful exchange of the components in such a short time is a result of a very good teamwork between Eneco, the vessel provider and our company. The communication between all different parties and levels of both companies formed the basis for the thorough preparation and the execution on site. The team’s focus and spirit were exceptional”. A key factor for the successful short-term exchange of the major components was the good weather conditions during this period which allowed the team to work on the affected turbines day and night in shifts.
The exchanges are an inclusive part of a five-year contract signed by the operator Eneco with the service provider Deutsche Windtechnik in 2022. The scope of the contract defines logistics and spare parts to be delivered by Eneco, while Deutsche Windtechnik is responsible for providing skilled personnel, in-depth documentation, the lifting equipment, and the tooling.
