Our service for E-101 and E-115 CS101a is attractive on several levels
Operators of wind farms with Enercon E-101 and E-115 CS101a technology can now look forward to another attractive option for wind farm maintenance: Deutsche Windtechnik now also provides service for these turbine types. This usually has a positive effect on the overall operation of the wind farm: On the one hand, the client can often reduce the operating costs of their wind farm by comparing several offers. On the other hand, competition increases the efforts of everyone involved to ensure service at the highest level of quality. In order to meet these expectations, various teams at Deutsche Windtechnik have been working hand in hand over the past few months. Deutsche Windtechnik's Control Systems department, its Training Center, Procurement and Sales are also involved in this process and, under the leadership of Deutsche Windtechnik's Enercon technology department, have expanded their expertise to include the E-101 and E-115 CS101a technologies.
Proven repair procedure for the main bearings of Enercon E-70 and E-82
Part of this development is to quickly create solutions for very specific issues. In response to multiple requests from clients, Deutsche Windtechnik has created its own procedure for repairing both main bearings of Enercon E-70 and E-82 series turbines and has already successfully put it into practice. Wear-related structural damage was detected in the affected wind turbines, making repair necessary. Deutsche Windtechnik's staff developed a new repair procedure that allows them to carry out this very special repair in the shortest time possible. In addition to the actual repair of the main bearings, it includes creating the required tools, developing repair procedures for each of the individual turbine platforms and keeping spare parts in stock at the central warehouse. When damage occurs, the front main bearing is repaired up-tower, but the rear main bearing is uninstalled along with the rotor hub. To ensure the shortest possible downtime, Deutsche Windtechnik's team replaces the disassembled hub with a ready-to-install rotor hub of the same type. Deutsche Windtechnik stocks ready-to-install rotor hubs for many turbine types in its spare parts warehouse. The worn-out rotor hub is then repaired by the company's own subsidiary GearTec. The entire assembly is dismantled, measured, new bearings are installed, it is re-coated, and all add-on parts are checked, reworked or renewed if necessary.
Using preventive maintenance to avoid total loss
The knowledge we gained while developing the repair process is also incorporated into the scheduled maintenance intervals for wind farms equipped with Enercon E-70 and E-82 turbines. Deutsche Windtechnik also carries out preventive work to ensure that damage does not occur in the first place: For example, the lubrication systems of the main bearings are upgraded with an automatic lubricant supply. In addition, the condition of the two main bearings is checked during every regular maintenance. If initial irregularities or damage are detected, they are documented, analysed and recommendations for action are then derived and discussed with the wind farm operators. This may or may not mean repairing the main bearings using the procedure described earlier. This enables Deutsche Windtechnik to minimise the consequences for its clients to the greatest extent possible.
