Deutsche Windtechnik is awarded the contract to provide maintenance for Senvion 6.2M turbines – all installed Senvion performance classes now being serviced

Effective immediately, the independent service provider Deutsche Windtechnik AG will now also provide maintenance for Senvion's largest multi-megawatt class: the 6-MW power class.

The international asset manager re:cap global investors ag, from Zug, Switzerland, has commissioned the company to provide service for the Handewitt wind farm, which is equipped with two Senvion 6.2M126 wind turbines. Deutsche Windtechnik now has all turbine classes manufactured by Senvion under service contract, including the complete MD and MM series, the 3.XM series and the 6.XM series.

"Senvion's insolvency is currently creating a strong demand for our service for a wide range of this manufacturer's turbine technologies, both onshore and offshore. Projects that have current, urgent issues in connection with our existing collaboration with Senvion are of particular importance," Matthias Brandt, Director at Deutsche Windtechnik, said regarding the situation. "The customers are looking for resilient, sustainable alternatives for continuing maintenance."

Convincing alternative for full maintenance

"As a financial investor with a diversified portfolio of wind turbines, the continuous, undisrupted, reliable availability of maintenance services for our turbines is key to achieving the projected service life," Thomas Staudinger, Managing Director of re:cap, said. "Due to the special circumstances arising from the insolvency of the manufacturer Senvion, we have had to take a long, hard look at alternative offers for full maintenance from manufacturer-independent maintenance companies. Above all, Deutsche Windtechnik convinced us with its concept for a solution-oriented approach with fast implementation, its in-house refurbishment expertise and the many years of experience it has with Senvion turbines."
Deutsche Windtechnik has been active for several years as an independent maintenance provider for Senvion wind turbines, increasingly at an international level and also offshore. "With this new contract for the Handewitt wind farm, we are now providing service for the manufacturer's entire range, including the 6-MW class for the first time," said Severin Mielimonka, Managing Director of Deutsche Windtechnik X-Service. The company currently provides service for almost 300 Senvion turbines under basic and full maintenance contracts, including sophisticated spare parts management for large component replacements, uptower repairs and retrofits.

Primarily installed offshore

"Only small numbers of Senvion's 6-MW class have been installed onshore. The turbine is mainly in use offshore. We are well-prepared for this and offer a complete range of services for Senvion's 6-MW power class in the offshore area," said Jens Landwehr, Managing Director of Deutsche Windtechnik Offshore und Consulting. Deutsche Windtechnik has been managing six Senvion turbines in the 5M performance class at the first German offshore wind farm alpha ventus since 2017. Deutsche Windtechnik also won this contract due to its high level of technical expertise for multi-megawatt turbines and years of offshore experience.
