Predictive maintenance

Predictive maintenance: early detection of faults in wind turbines for the purpose of predictive maintenance (Photo: Deutsche Windtechnik)

Together with Wirtschaftsförderung und Technologietransfer Schleswig-Holstein GmbH, Deutsche Windtechnik's software development department is working on a project called Predictive Maintenance Wind Turbine. The focus is on machine learning as a sub-area of artificial intelligence (AI). The software will be used for early detection of faults in wind turbines for the purpose of predictive maintenance. Among other things, it will identify the components required for a service deployment or the optimal point in time for maintenance. In addition to increased availability, the software also facilitates increased turbine safety, a more targeted use of resources, the modification of spare parts and the predictability of wind power for the energy grid. No additional sensors need to be installed for this method to work.
