Position Title: EHS Specialist


Location: remote with frequent travel throughout the   United States

Reports To: EHS Director

Full-time, typically between 8 am – 5 pm, Monday through Friday. Flexibility to work weekends and/or evenings is required in case of incidents that require a timely response and case management. 


The EHS Specialist will be a vital member of the USA organization, supporting the company and regulatory compliance. Primary duties will be to inspect projects, correct unsafe conditions, and provide EHS guidance and support when necessary. This critical role will help standardize and strengthen the company's EHS culture throughout the DWT Group.

· Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals. 

· Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

· Ability to understand and follow customary instructions to perform the essential functions of the position in a satisfactory manner.

· Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

· Ability to work with minimal supervision, given proper instructions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, bend, climb wind turbines, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear: and sit.  The employee must be capable of lifting, carrying and/or moving up to 25 pounds.  


· Enforce and support the DWT EHS policies and procedures for the locations of responsibility. 

· Conduct field inspections and record results in the DWT Real-time Operations Assessment Report (ROAR) system. 

· Provide risk reduction solutions with Voice of the Team (VOT) concerns, pause/stop work, and hazardous conditions. 

· Maintain accountability for the EHS 5 Star KPI function, including VOT, QEHS Site Checklist status, and promptly mitigate any identified safety hazards from ROAR management site review (MSR) inspections.

· Support EHS & Technical training plans to ensure that workgroups meet competency expectations. 

· Support and implement any project-specific site safety plans. 

· Interface with customers/clients on EHS improvements/initiatives. 

· Supports operations in the development of work-specific Risk Assessments.

· Lead and conduct incident investigations with a focus on reducing re-occurrences.

· Monitor any Lessons Learned, general EHS performance, progress, preventive, and corrective action plans.

· Support injured worker/case management and the DWT return to work process.

· Available 2 weeks per year for operational training/engagement/interfacing (if necessary).

· Supports additional shareholders, including – Human Resources, Training, Administration, Quality, Engineering, and Supply Chain.


· Board of Certified Safety Professionals - OHST Certification or progression - preferred

· Board of Certified Safety Professionals - CHST Certification or progression  - preferred

· Associates degree in the field of study - preferred 

· Minimum of 2 years' previous experience in an EHS role - required 

· Electrical qualifications and understanding - advantageous.

· Cause Mapping Analysis - preferred i.e. Think Reliability, Logic Tree, etc.

· Familiar with site management structure in the US for complex technical projects in the onshore wind industry - preferred 

· Workers compensation and Risk Management experience - preferred

· Technical qualifications from the industry - preferred

· Strong interpersonal, management and organizational skills required

· Excellent communication skills 

· Pro-active attitude 

· Basic knowledge and appreciation of the technical, commercial, and political aspects driving the wind industry 

· High level of motivation 

· Ability to work independently 


Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (word, excel, PowerPoint, etc…) and operation of office equipment (computers, tablets, cell phones, copier, etc….)


Primary duties will be performed in operational sites where there will be exposure to the outside elements. Secondary duties conducted in a climate-controlled office environment or traveling in a vehicle.
