The rotor blades are among the most highly stressed components of the wind turbine. Depending on the intensity of the load and the procedures and quality of the manufacturing process, sooner or later signs of wear start to appear. Under certain conditions, design or manufacturing faults show up. Our experts have been involved with all services that have to do with the maintenance and repair of rotor blades for more than 10 years.
Regular inspections, maintenance, preventative or, as applicable, spontaneous repairs are the core skills we offer for our rotor services. Our rotor blade team are out and about working on work platforms using cable-access technology or alternatives all over Germany.

During the lifespan of a wind turbine, there are numerous situations that make it necessary for the rotor blades to be inspected by an expert. We create assessment reports for you, using independent, accredited experts:
In addition to qualified assessments, regular maintenance and necessary repairs to damaged rotor blades; we also perform preventive maintenance for the protection of the rotor blades.
Here, we use cable-based access technology and special work platforms. More extensive damages can be repaired in a disassembled condition at the base of the wind turbine or in a workshop.
Imbalances of the rotor or incorrect setting of the blade not only reduce the yield; important components also start to show signs of wear and tear faster, such as to the pitch drive, blade bearing or the azimuth systems.
The first signs of faults caused by the rotors are increased rotor noise, typical surface cracks or triggering of the vibration monitoring system. By means of the measurement techniques we employ, we can determine faults and initiate corrective action. When analysing the blade angle, we work with the laser-based method (dynamic geometric measurement [DGM]).
Damage to the coating of the rotor blade must be quickly and permanently remedied to ensure a long, continuous operating time. Deutsche Windtechnik has developed a PU (polyurethane) paint system with three different paints. Application is very easy – also in extreme conditions.
1-Component Repair Paint:
Easy application, efficient processing, also able to be used in extreme temperatures
2-Component Repair Paint:
Creates a hard, closed surface with permanent inner elasticity
Leading Edge Protector LEP:
Special protective paint for the inflow profiles, with maximal elasticity and a very high resistance to erosion, which also makes it suitable for offshore applications
