15.05.2019 ISP are a fixture in the UK service market

Wind energy in the UK is picking up speed again: The government has announced that it will increase its offshore expansion to 30 GW by 2030! The market for the maintenance of wind turbines is also undergoing some changes that look to become permanent. Even though OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) used to dominate the market, ISPs (Independent Service Providers) with their flexible service concepts have become a fixture in the UK during the past few years as well. Deutsche Windtechnik is on the cutting edge of these developments.

"What sets us apart from OEMs Is the fact that we are focused on maintenance 100 per cent. We are experts for the entire system and all of the versatile disciplines that involves, including the turbine, the control system and the rotor – both onshore and offshore," said Billy Stevenson, Managing Director of Deutsche Windtechnik Ltd.

The UK unit of Europe's leading ISP Deutsche Windtechnik was founded in 2015 in Edinburgh. Today, more than 80 employees are tasked with providing maintenance for nearly 400 wind turbines of the manufacturers Siemens/AN Bonus and NEG Micon in Scotland and Wales. "We are currently working on introducing services in the UK for further system technologies, such as Senvion and Vestas."

Full scope for multi-brand technologies

The majority of UK employees are Authorised Technicians (AT). A team for engineering and a large spare parts management team ensure fast, efficient and safe work processes. All are closely networked with the competence teams of the entire group. The fact that Deutsche Windtechnik received ScottishPower's Best Services Provider Supplier Award 2017 is further proof that the company is well prepared for the country-specific requirements in the UK.
