Position Title:   Tooling Specialist

Location: Humble, TX

Reports To: Supply Chain Manager

Typically 8am – 4:30pm, Monday through Friday. Usually 40 hours/week with 30 minutes lunch break unless other arrangements have been agreed to by the employer and the employee.


The Tooling Specialist is a full-time position within the Supply Chain department. This position will have two main areas of responsibility: Tool Management and Uniform / PPE management. They work closely with the Supply Chain Manager to ensure the best product quality, pricing, and availability for our team throughout the United States. This position also interfaces with the Operations Managers as well as the Director of Quality & Ops Support. Key emphasis is the ownership of tooling processes and procedures and ensuring that tools are delivered to sites meeting both customers and DWT’s expectations. The successful candidate will have strong technical skills, knowledge of tooling (including specialty tooling), some supply chain theory and processes, familiarity with the Microsoft Office Suite and QuickBooks, as well as strong attention to detail, and a desire to learn and contribute as part of a dynamic team.

· Ability to read and interpret documents such as calibration certificates, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.

· Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

· Ability to understand and follow customary instructions in order to perform the essential functions of the position in a satisfactory manner.

· Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

· Ability to work with minimal supervision, given proper instructions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, bend and sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee must be capable of lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds.


· Tool Management: 

· Identification of tooling needs for different jobs and platforms

· Ordering of tooling

· Tracking of tooling in QuickBooks 

· Development, set-up and management of tooling kits

· Set-up and management of calibration program (AIC)

· Sourcing from most cost-effective and efficient vendors 

· Monthly audits and yearly inventory counts 

· Own and update tooling processes and procedures established

· Lead, perform (if applicable) and manage tool calibrations

· Analyze tooling cost and identify cost saving opportunities

· Develop strategy on improved tool and uniform / PPE sourcing

· Tool management includes HQ and all current as well as future DWT Inc. locations

· Uniform / PPE Management:

· Order PPE and uniforms for new hires

· Management of distribution and return of PPE / uniforms

· Research cost-effective and efficient vendors 

· Manage and update Gearcor website

· Analyze uniform / PPE cost and identify cost savings opportunities

· Glove rotation program management

· Coordinate with EHS Director for updated regulatory requirements

· Further duties as assigned


· Minimum of 3 years Tooling experience (advanced to expert level)

· Minimum of 3 years calibration experience 

· Understanding of different types of tooling and their maintenance requirements

· Profound knowledge of OSHA, UL, and other relevant standards

· Background in wind industry is helpful but not required

· Demonstrated advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office required

· Team player attitude, willing to work flexible hours as needed

· The ability to organize and prioritize a diverse workload in a fast-moving environment

· Experience with QuickBooks or related ERP system strongly preferred

· Material Procurement knowledge is a plus

· Availability to travel up to 25% as needed


Electrical Testing Equipment, Torque Wrench, Computer, Computer Software, Scanner, Printer, Telephone, Copier, Fax Machine. 


Duties are performed in a climate-controlled office environment. Optionally, employee may be invited to engage in travel by car to site, and in worksite visit(s) or vendor meetings.
