Deutsche Windtechnik wins a further tender for offshore ADLS – The system's multi-brand advantages allow the Butendiek offshore wind farm to be equipped with ADLS

At the end of 2022, Deutsche Windtechnik was awarded the contract to equip the Butendiek offshore wind farm with an Aircraft Detection Light System (ADLS). The 80 Siemens SWT-3,6-120 turbines at Butendiek will be the second offshore wind turbine technology that Deutsche Windtechnik equips with its internally developed ADLS. The Senvion turbines at the Nordergründe offshore wind farm had been equipped with ADLS last year.

Deutsche Windtechnik will equip the Butendiek offshore wind farm with its ADLS in 2023.

Preparations to install the ADLS have already begun, but the actual installation of the system is scheduled to take place during the summer months when there is less wind and will be combined with routine maintenance deployments. The breeding seasons of some sea birds will also be factored in. Jens Landwehr, Managing Director of Deutsche Windtechnik's offshore unit, said: "We are very pleased that our ADLS can now also demonstrate its flexible application options in the offshore area. As always, it is important to not only develop a good technical concept but also to take basic conditions such as environmental requirements into consideration, and to keep the logistical effort low and the availability high." According to the German Federal Network Agency, the wind turbines at all offshore wind farms must be fitted with ADLS by the end of 2023.
