The independent maintenance provider Deutsche Windtechnik is further expanding its service portfolio and has signed a contract to provide full maintenance for eight Siemens SWT 2,3 DD wind turbines at the Gunnarby wind farm in Sweden. The contract comes into effect in February 2021 and has a term of ten years. The operator of the turbines is the real estate company Wallenstam, which is actively involved in sustainable development and focuses on new construction projects and management of residential and commercial properties, mainly in Stockholm and Gothenburg.
At the beginning of 2013, Wallenstam was the first real estate company in Sweden to become self-sufficient using renewable energies, in particular from wind power. Kaj Lamton, Wind Power Operations Manager at Wallenstam, said: "Responsiveness, commitment and technical competence together with the right price were decisive factors for us when we chose the service provider for our wind farm in Gunnarby. We want to have a partner who treats our turbines like their own, offers constant service and proactive work and can ensure good maintenance as well as clean, competent work in an uncomplicated way. We hope that our cooperation with Deutsche Windtechnik will be characterised by respect, commitment and further development. These qualities are central to everything we do. The most important success factors for this agreement are clear communication and short response times."
Service seven days a week with short response times
With this new service contract, Deutsche Windtechnik now provides maintenance for a total of 184 wind turbines in Sweden, including systems from Vestas, Siemens, Nordex, Gamesa and Enercon. Linus Sturesson, Managing Director of Deutsche Windtechnik AB, said: "We are delighted to be able to sign this tailored ten-year contract for eight Siemens SWT 2.3 DD turbines. Both parties worked closely together to find the best strategic service concept for this wind farm. We discussed different risk scenarios in connection with different contract types. The best solution for Wallenstam was a full maintenance contract without main components and rotor. As a real estate company, they are able to bear the risk of repairing and replacing main components themselves." Deutsche Windtechnik has already set up a service location near this wind farm because of the contracts it has with a neighbouring wind farm, including service teams that are available seven days a week and have short response times.
"Wallenstam and Deutsche Windtechnik have been in contact for several years. Our technological expertise for Siemens is a perfect match for the Gunnarby wind farm," said Linus Sturesson. Open, transparent communication in connection with our shared values of sustainability will be of decisive importance for our future cooperation. These factors will enable Wallenstam to continue its exemplary implementation of renewable energies."
